Cómo encontrar el índice h de Hirsch


El índice h de Hirsch es un sistema de medida que permite detectar a los investigadores más destacados dentro de un área de conocimiento, fue propuesto por Jorge Hirsch de la Universidad de California a mediados del 2005.
Su cálculo es sencillo, consiste en ordenar los documentos de un investigador o una institución en orden descendente de número de citas recibidas, numerarlas e identificar el punto en el que el número de orden coincida con el de citas recibidas por documento.
Una de las ventajas del índice h es que permite evaluar en un solo indicador una medida de calidad y otra del impacto de la producción científica.


Cualquier investigador puede calcular el índice h de sus publicaciones.

Tiene que ordenar su producción científica, por el número de citas recibidas en orden descendente, numerarlas e identificar el punto en el que el número de orden coincide con el número de citas recibidas por una publicación. Este número constituye el índice h.

El 22% de la producción se distribuye en 5 títulos, como se muestra en la Tabla 1, con sus correspondientes factores de impacto.
